Rational Team Concert New & Noteworthy

Rational Team Concert 6.0.2 New & Noteworthy Summary

Rational Team Concert is an integral part of the Rational solution for Collaborative Lifecycle Management (CLM).

For a complete list of new and noteworthy items in this release, see the New & Noteworthy Details.

For a summary of items in this release, see the following highlights.

Quick Planner

Create work items quickly across projects

The new cross-project views in the My Stuff area have a Quick Create option that you can use to quickly create work items across any Rational Team Concert project in a single place. The My Work, My Subscribed, and All Work views all support the Quick Create capability. When you use the Quick Create option, the work item is created in the first project on your project list.

Organize and share views

You can now easily share Quick Planner views with a selected project, all your projects, or with everyone. A new View Properties option also supports tagging so that you can organize views and quickly locate work items.

Filter work items by subscriber or release

New filters are available in Quick Planner to help filter work items by subscriber or by release. For example, you can use short forms to filter against the Found In (>) and Filed Against (^) attributes. You can also filter by subscriber by using a short form (@user) or long form (Subscribed By = user).

View recent work

The My Recent Work view in Quick Planner now shows all work items that were recently opened in both the Rational Team Concert web client and the Quick Planner interface. Earlier releases only showed work items that were recently opened in Quick Planner.

Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)

Upgrade existing SAFe projects

This release includes online guidance for how to update the existing, default SAFe templates that come with the product to enable SAFe 4.0 capabilities such as value streams. This guidance is available on the SAFe landing page on Jazz.net. For details, see SAFe 4.0 Assets in the Documentation section.

Jazz source control

View the graphical history for components

If you manage many release streams, want to know which release versions contain which versions of which components, or need to understand how work has flowed across streams and baselines, you can now use the new Graphical History for Components view. This view makes it easy to visualize complex development history and component work flows, especially when you need to manage many variants of your software or need to create custom versions for specific market needs.

Lock streams and components

In addition to locking files, you can now also lock streams and components. Teams can use this feature to prevent changes from being applied to certain streams or components, which can be helpful especially at the end of a release.

Usability improvements

File-handling was improved for issues that cause local files to be out of synch when you update or accept changes from others. These changes help prevent local file changes from being overwritten when you update your sandbox. The Pending Changes view was also improved to better show component hierarchies, locked files, and what's being accepted.

Built-in code review improvements

It is now easier to get started with and mine data from code reviews by using the built-in code review interface and approval workflow. Better guidance is available for getting started and for deciding which versions to compare. You can also optionally create work items from code review issues. For auditability, a new command is available to export code review data to collect metrics or find open code reviews.
